I ordered this kit after speaking to my brother who purchased a D40 a year ago. He is very happy with the D40 but being a big brother and wanting more I decided to go for the D60. I am glad I did. The D60 takes better photographs than any of my 35mm cameras. If you do not like the photographs just delete. After speaking with my brother about cameras, he suggested to purchase at Amazon.com. He said he saved alot of money purchasing his camera there. I checked all camera stores for the D60 and found I saved over $200 on just the camera and lens alone. All the accessories were free. What a deal and a fantastic camera.

Customer Review: The Perfect Portrait Lens
I have used Nikkor lenses for almost 40 years. I have 6 in my bag right now. This is the best lens I have ever used. It is better than the 105 f2.5, and that should say it all. Fast focus, perfect color, contrast, and razor sharp. The 85 mm focal length is perfect for portraits even with the 1.5 factor on a D300 [feels almost like you are using the 105 f2.5!]. Combine the 1.8 f-stop with the low noise of today’s Nikons and you are set to capture great images in almost any low light situation. The real point of the lens is, of course, the incredible DOF control you have to make your subject pop. I always use aperture priority with this lens to make sure I am controling the f stop, the results are amazing, even wide open. This prime lens really needs to be in your camera bag if you are a serious Nikon photographer. The fit and finish are pure Nikon. One more important thought, this lens will work perfectly on the full sensor D3 and D700 as it is not a DX lens. You will not be sorry you bought this lens, esp at the current price.
Customer Review: Great bokeh from a great lens!
This is a great lens for the price you are paying. The 85mm f/1.4 is about 3 times the price (I don’t own it so I cannot compare apart from the specifications), and gives you about 2/3 more stops of light. This lens has 9 aperture blades, which gives a very nice bokeh. On a crop factor camera (except the D3 at the time of this review), this lens is about 127.5mm, which becomes a tele portrait lens. This is one lens you would not regret buying!

The camera is light weight and very easy to use. The shutter speed takes too long to adjust for lighting when taking pictures in dimly lit rooms, even after repeated photos in the same lighting. This is frustrating trying to get pictures of kids. Other wise it works great.

I have had this lens for about 6 months now. It’s a good lens, I paid $400 and I see it is $300 now (wish I had gotten that price). I wear my camera around my neck a lot, on a long strap so it hangs down by my hip. This lens is so long it’s a pain not to knock it into things. I wanted one lens to do all the work vs having to have a lot of lens’s and I have learned I don’t like a super long and heavy lens.

Customer Review: Underrated, very capable
First of all, let me address one of the major complaints about this camera: low light AF hunting. I’ve never had a digital camera that did NOT have trouble getting its focus in low light. The Canon XTi has the problem, my Minolta digital had the problem and, from what I’ve read the Olympus E510 and Nikon D60 also have that problem. But with the P5100 there are ways around it using the landscape setting.

Customer Review: A camera that allows you to hold it
Since I moved from the D70s to D300 it has further increased my pleasure to press the gentle button to capture a moment. This camera is extremely stable, especially with the VR function in the Nikon Lens. The menu has many choices to enable specific photography. Also the continuous shooting is a real improvement and makes very beautiful action-pictures. Very pleasant is its LED matrix focus device that can be seen in the viewer. Real super technology for the amateur/professional photographer.

Customer Review: Perfect walk-around lens, my new favorite
It’s been about 2 months that I’ve had this lens and it almost never leaves my camera. I’m came to buying this lens after being lured in by the ever-so-attractive constant f/2.8 aperture. It was a contest between this lens and the Nikon 16-85 f/3.5-5.6 VR and now, I know I’ve made the right choice.
