Customer Review: Great lens…not a cheap alternative to the Nikon
I was worried when I bouught this lens because I had only tried the Tamron copy, but my only experience with non-Nikon is with Sigma. I LOVE this lens. I got it for shooting sporting events for my university newspaper, and have had no problems in the month that I’ve had it. It autofocuses faster than the Tamron. A monopod isn’t necessary because it’s such a fast lens. Even at night with stadium lighting, the AF has little trouble.

Just got the Sigma 10-20 lens for Nikon and using it on a D80.
It is loads of fun to use.

On the wide end, the extra 2mm difference between 10mm and 12mm maximum width as found on the Nikon or Tokina is truly remarkable. If you are going to go wide, go as wide as you can and get this lens.

Combined with the zoomed end, it is a very versatile instrument and will likely see more time attached to my camera than the 18-135 kit lens.

I’m not an experienced photographer, but this lense (and my Nikon D40) make me feel like I am!! I love this lense. For the money, it’s fabulous!! The only thing that drives me crazy, is that it is manually focused exactly opposite from my old (crummy) lense, but I’m adjusting.
Customer Review: Reeeaaally hard to beat for $170!
Did some comparisons to the Nikon 18-200 and, while this is missing some features (anti-shake, a little lower f rating at the zoom end, etc), it’s really hard to beat for $170. Image comparisons show this lens, while not quite up to the Nikon, were excellent. It was on par or better than my Nikon 18-70. Focuses well and is relatively solid in build.
